So, I downloaded this game demo last night. Great concept for a Pokemon game. Takes place in Kanto and has trainers from the other regions come over and you battle/talk to them for storyline stuff. And then there’s something about Team Rocket or something because Jessie and James are in the demo for a bit.

But, the game needs a LOT of work.

  1. The Pokemon used their Gameboy battle cries. So, that was just a little stupid and should be updated to their Black/White battle cries.
  2. The dialogue was horrendous. I mean, a lot of it was just the same stuff from R/B/Y. But even that dialogue was messed up. A lot of it made no sense. Like, when you walk with Prof. Oak back to his lab and you’re standing outside of the lab he says “Drive back to my lab!”…okay…? And then a lot of other stuff made NO sense and I had to sit there for a few minutes reading some sentences to figure out what was being said.
  3. I caught a Rattata and it had no moves.
  4. Raising the Pokemon is damn near impossible. It takes SO much longer to raise your Pokemon by battling wild Pokemon than it does in the actual games. So, unless you spend a LOT of time leveling up your Pokemon in the wild, you’ll have one useful Pokemon.
  5. The trainers were beyond over-leveled which helped when you were raising your Pokemon. But, as I said in my last point, you’ll probably have one useful Pokemon to take them. My useful Pokemon was Charmander. By the time I finished the demo, I was only a few levels away from having a Charizard. But that’s not only because the trainers give a LOT of experience, but because the game adds an ENTIRELY new area for the storyline (which was a nice addition). Even so, I shouldn’t have been close to having a Charizard before I even left Pewter City.
  6. The camera angles were pretty bad at times, but it was nothing TOO bad.

If the person making this game fixes all of those problems and expands on it, this could be an amazing game. But I highly doubt they’ll fix those problems.
